OWBPC: Trashy Flamingos

So last time I posted on this challenge I had just gotten started and Layla was pregnant with the first baby.  After reading through the rules again about 10 more times I have decided on some mini bonuses I'm going to give a shot.  They are the following (you can check out the rules for each of these challenges on the rules page I posted on the first post):

BoolProp Naming Scheme (10 Points)
Basically, baby names will follow BoolProp, so gen 1 babies will be named starting with B, O, and O again.

One Bad Apple (10 Points)
Basically, one baby will be an ISBI

BoolProp Clubhouse (10 Points)
A venue must be bought by the founders and kept through the entire challenge.

Family Scrapbook (10 Points)
Each family member must have their pictures (either a picture, painting, drawing, etc) hanging in the house.

Bug Me Not (10 Points)
One person of each generation must complete a bug collection

Workaholics Anonymous (15 Points)
Earn all of the career rewards available, a single sim can only get 3 rewards.

With that information in our caps let's check in with the family.  With Layla being pregnant she still isn't interested in finding a job, and as a family sim she might never be but we will see what happens.  So, what does she do while her husband is off at work?  She trims the trees.

I did not take a picture of it but all the flamingos were standing this morning, and it was in Holden's queue to go get the gnome back, but he got home in the morning, so that disappeared.  I couldn't remember if he would go back out the next night or not so I thought it possible I had already lost my base game's challenge.  Instead, Holden took care of his plants.

The next night, however, sure enough, Holden was wake around midnight, and I see him starting to walk off the lot and stop and give this look.

He was off to grab the gnome that was stolen from us.  So yay, I didn't lose out on the base game challenge.  I am going to have to fit in at least 24 flamingos, maybe more, over the course of this challenge, so you will see the flamingos move around some. Soon enough the gnome was back in his rightful spot.

The next morning we get the next "pop" for Layla.  What will she have, a boy or a girl?  Since I'm not focused on a matriarchy I'm not really worried about the sex of the baby but with a 'B' for the start of their name, I would like to think of some before the baby comes.

Layla then remembers (or rather I do) to take "roll call" of the flamingos and goes to stand the one that got kicked over yesterday up with the rest of them.  The gnome, so far, has stayed put and no one has tried to take off with him again.

I then decide the plants are doing really well and everything is looking good for the garden club, so I give them a call and they come to inspect the garden.  It's then I realize, or remember, that flamingos are considered "trash" to the garden.  That means I'll have to make up the extra points somewhere.  We do make it into the garden club but do not get the wishing well, yet.

Layla goes into labor the next morning, and we will welcome the first baby of the first generation into this wacky challenge.  Our new little Zaynie is a boy!  We name him Bobbie, which keeps us on track to complete the name scheme bonus. Bobbie has his daddies blue eyes and brown hair (which could have come from either parent.)

So with another little Zaynie in the house, it's time to add some more flamingos.  I have moved the flamingos over in front of the driveway.  I want to get that wishing well before too much longer or I will not have enough yard to make up for the "trashy" flamingos.

Holden has joined the military career to get started on getting his 3 career rewards.  He came home promoted, and that was great as the family needed money in order to buy the clubhouse they need to complete that bonus.

With the money in the bank, the couple calls down to the real estate office and purchases the Little and Local lot, which has been placed up the street from their house and is now officially named the BoopProp Clubhouse. It is small and contains only a pool table currently.  Hopefully, the family will be able to upgrade it over time to make it a wonderful clubhouse.

With the business open and people starting to come in and play a little bit of pool the couple does what they would do all the time if not directed by me, and cuddles under the clouds.  They are really stupidly cute together.

After a fun time opening the clubhouse and getting a little money from it the couple heads to get their photo taken.  Gotta get that family "scrapbook" started.  Into the photo booth, they go and out comes a fun little picture to hang on their wall at home.

The next day, at noon (roll call has been remembered, but there haven't been any kicked flamingo's after that one day) Layla works on fixing the toilet that had become clogged. Luckily it only took once, because I'm guessing if she starts at noon but doesn't fix it, she would have to wait until noon the next day to try again.

It was then time for the 'winter' party.  Since we had gotten notified it was Bobbie's birthday we decide to hold a birthday party for the occasion.  Only a few guests show up, the family needs to make more friends badly.  After some general socializing Layla brings little Bobbie to the cake, and everyone crowds into the kitchen.

Little Bobbie grows up on the first try (he shouldn't have he had just been changed and fed, but you just never know with sim babies) and he is a cute little toddler now.  Both parents roll up wishes to start teaching him skills.

After the party is finished, it was a Good Time, with the birthday going so well, we notice the gnome was stolen.  It was one of our party guests, but I'm not sure who.  Luckily, a little later that night Holden is once again off to bring back the guard gnome.

With the gnome once again in place at his rightful spot guarding the flamingo horde, we will end this update.  So far so good with the rules, I was much better at remembering all of them, and I'm getting closer to the wishing well.  I'm going to wait for spring so I can add more plants and garden plots to expand the garden and hopefully make up for the "trashy" flamingos that will continue to populate our garden.

OWBPC: Date Party!

Now that you are fully introduced to Layla and have had time to review the rules of this challenge (which I should have done because I already have forgotten a couple of things) we are ready to get started.  First order of business is to find Layla a husband so we can get the 3 pregnancies out of the way.

The first thing Layla does, and my first mistake, is to stop and smell the flowers, and I forgot to get the flamingos put out.  Don't worry, that is rectified soon, but for the first couple of days here I totally forgot the flamingos.

After smelling the flowers Layla really wanted to get some skills, cleaning, and cooking to be exact.  So we bought a bookcase and had her sit down and start studying while we waited for the welcome wagon to come by.

After Mr. Humble dropped off the computer, the first visitor was actually from the garden club.  Having gotten her skills in Layla went out and greeted her, and they had a lovely chat until the welcome wagon showed up.

The welcome wagon did not contain any of my CAS townies but there were two guys.  One she had no attraction to, but the other was two bolts.  Let's see if they hit it off.

They do pretty good and are almost friends when we see another guy walking by and head out to greet him.  He is also a two-bolt attraction and does nearly as well as the first gentleman. I did not catch a picture of him, but back to our first attraction she makes sure to tell him, she is interested.  He doesn't balk at her flirt, but their conversations tend to end with lots of negative symbols.

We decide to head to a couple community lots and see if we can get anyone else, or if we can find a 3-bolter.  So out she heads to this community lot that I no longer remember the name of. There are some guys here, but no one she really hits it off with.  She is now beginning to get hungry so we decide to send her to one more spot.

At the park, there are a lot more possibilities and a few that she hits it off ok with.  This might come down to who she gets leveled up with the fastest.

After heading back home she is instantly called back out by one of the guys she met at the park.  She's hungry, tired, and in pretty bad shape, but we say what the hey and send her out somewhere she can get food and coffee.

She heads home to bed shortly after this and says good-bye to the group.  The gentleman in the blue hat is at the top of our possibilities list.  They had generally really good conversations, he will add some interesting genetics and I have no indication he's a romance sim.

The next day she greats a couple of passer-bys and one of them starts classic dancing with her without my input.  This was all autonomous.  He even gives her a bit of a peck and starts crushing on her (which I missed a picture of.)  She, however, has no similar feelings for him.  We take this as a sign.

We are supposed to throw parties each season.  So we throw a party and invite her highest relationship met to join her.  One instantly starts a fight so we send him home.  It's down to blue hat guy, and the classic dance guy.  She pretty quickly starts throwing wishes for blue hat guy, who's name is Holden.  Sadly, she has no stereo so there is no smuttle dancing, but this is a dating party.  Soon she wants to go on a date with Holden and so it is.

The other guy is a little upset, seeing as he had a crush on Layla, but Layla only has eyes for Holden.  Before the end of the date, they are making out with each other in the kitchen.

Layla invites him to move in with her, and he is a knowledge sim.   His dream is to become chief of staff, but he is currently a criminal mastermind and has quite a few skills already.  His hobby is also nature, which is great for our seasons goals. Layla the next day wants to get engaged and then married to Holden and so it is.  Welcome, Holden Zaynie.

The couple wastes no time in trying for a baby, but there are no chimes this time.  So instead they go play some chess, and we have added a chessboard to the house.

It's right around this time that I am looking at the rules again and realize I have forgotten the flamingos, and the gnome to guard them.  They are purchased and initially put in the backyard, there is a fence, but it is not locked.  We then decided to adjust the yard some and move them to the front yard a little later. We had also begun to build up our yard for getting the wishing well.

I then realize I had broken one other rule.  Without even thinking about it I had Layla unclog the toilet, it was not noon, which is when we are allowed to fix things....oops. I have not, however, forgotten that I cannot hire any help so Layla heads out to water flowers at night.

Holden has actually gotten a promotion due to a good pick on a chance card which left the family with some money to spend on getting the yard going for real on the idea of getting a wishing well.  The best guide I've ever found is ASimWen's 'How To Win The Wishing Well in The Sims 2'.  It has basically become my bible of getting a wishing well.  The yard is beginning to look very nice in the front.

I actually edited the fence a little after this picture was taken, and the flamingos are now placed along the side between the edge of the lot and the sidewalk...for now.  When the babies start coming we will need more flamingos, but there are 6 currently.  Someone, of course, stole our gnome the next day, however, Holden has the action to go steal it back in his queue.

Finally, we end this update with a happy picture.  After trying again we discover that Layla and Holden were successful and the first of our three required pregnancies is underway.  We are almost ready to be able to invite the garden club over in the hopes that we will get the wishing well right away, but it might wait until after fall.

So a successful if slightly rocky start with the rules.  I did go a couple of days without flamingos, but I have rectified it, and I did accidently "repair" something after noon, so I have to keep both of those rules in mind, as well as the standing up flamingos in the morning.  Still, it's a fun challenge so far and I have plans with how I want to take it in the future.  I hope you enjoy this crazy challenge!

The Official Start of the "Official Wacky Boolprop Challenge"

So as promised I am brining you the initial start of the OWBPC (or Official Wacky Boolprop Challenge) that is found over on boolprop.net.  If you do not know, Boolprop is a community of simmers, for all versions (yes even Sims 1) and is a fun, supportive, group of people who love the sims and enjoy sharing them and doing other just fun things.

So this will be the official launch, although not much game play will happen this particular entry as this will be mostly set up.  So if you want to read through all the official rules you can find them here.  There are a lot of "options" for things you want to accomplish during this challenge and I have decided to try for the following:

Base Game
-For obtaining an alien through a legit abduction. (3 Points)
-For going one whole generation, from birth to birth, without getting ANY promotions. (3 Points)
-For having a gnome to guard your flamingos and having your Sims always go to fetch it back. He must be accessible to be stolen, you may not have a sentry bot guard him. Watch for it and don't lose that gnome! (3 Points)

Seasons
-Throw a party once every Season of the year. In other words four a Sim year. This can include birthday parties, sports parties, new years parties, etc. Themeing it, roof raising it, or smustling at it is optional but a plus! (3 Points)
-For earning a wishing well. (3 Points)
-For creating a plantsim. (3 Points)

FreeTime-You may not have a car unless it is the junker that you fixed up yourself for the lot. (3 Points)
-Heir and Spouse must reach Level 10 in their Predestined Hobby. (3 Points, 1 Point for each heir/ess couple)
-Obtain a Genie. (3 Points)

I debated long and hard about the 3 bonuses I would try for, but those are them.  Now, let's see who our challenger will be.

This is our challenger.  Meet Layla Zaynie, our challenge founder.  She is a Family Sim with a lifetime want to have 6 grandchildren.  She is very neat (9), nice (8), serious (0), and fairly shy (4) and lazy (4).

We started off by moving her to this nice little house that has room in the yard for a garden, and hopefully all the things we need to get a wishing well eventually.  I edited the house some before she moved in, removed the garage that was there, etc.

Now, to help make this a little more intereting I also premade a bunch of sims to put in as townies and into the adoption pool.  Here are some quick screen shots of all the sims that inhabit the hood as either adopable kids/teens or as townies.

So part of the rules is to have 3 pregnancies.  Now, I have not added any hacks or mods to this hood outside of the "normal" ones I use to help with glitches, try to avoid corruption however possible, and make the game run just a little smoother.  Most of these coming from Pescado.

So next update we will really start to dig into this challenge and see who we can get Layla to meet, befriend, and marry in to start those kids.  I wonder if the welcome wagon will include any of the townies I made?  Join me next time to find out.
